Trivia zu Folge 10 (chronologisch)
Achtung Spoiler!!!
(Scroll down in the article for an English translation)

Light Novel „The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya“
    Haruhi-10-Gaudi

Trivia of Episode 10 (chronological)
Beware of spoilers!!!

  • The episode is based on the short story of the same name in the 4. light novel „The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya“
  • The tree from „Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody“ still stands in the club room….
    Haruhi-10-Tanabata
  • Itsuki tells Kyon, that Haruhi believes in metafiction. She seems to select her environment in a way so that certain clichés are fulfilled. Then something must happen similar to a fictional works. Normally a behaviour gets metafictional through the eyes of the viewer, so it’s strange that Itsuki and Kyon as protagonists are taliking about this. Perhaps this is related to the observer state of the 3 factions or I simply do not understand the whole thing ^^‘.
  • Kyon refers to the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí i Cornet (Artsy-Link), who applied to his buildings a very idiosyncratic style with round, organic looking designs. He created several famous buildings in Barcelona.

  • Kyon mentions 2 islands:

    – „Infant Island“ is the birthplace of Mothra, the giant moth of the Godzilla movies

I haven’t found anything about „Lira Manor“ or „Lilas Manor“.
„Koketsu castle“ might be a reference to the novel „Koketsu-Jo Kitan “ by Yoshiki Tanaka.
  • Yuki reads in the episode the Japanese translation of „“The Melancholy Haruhi Suzumiya V“ (a pen name of the brothers Anthony and Peter Shaffer). Following the general topic it’s an detective story.

  • Itsuki says in one scene that the ride to the island will take about an hour. Later Arakawa tells in contrast that it only takes half an hour. In the light novel Itsuki also says that it takes half an hout, so I think that’s a small error by Kyoto Animation.
