Trivia zu Folge 6 (chronologisch)

- Die Folge basiert auf einer Kurzgeschichte aus der gleichnamigen 3. Light Novel „The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya“
- Im Prolog kann man hinten im Regal ein Buch mit dem Titel „Master of Space“ stehen sehen. Dabei könnte es sich um „Master of Space and Time“ von Rudy Rucker handeln, welches vom Inhalt zu Yuki’s in dieser Folge gezeigten Kräften her passen könnte. Es gibt aber auch noch Bücher namens „Master of Space“ von Arthur C. Clarke und von Donald S Rowland zu geben. Letztere scheinen aber eher mehr mit Raumfahrt zu tun zu haben, was weniger gut zu der Folge passen würde.
- Kyon erwähnt, dass Haruhi die SOS Brigade im Mai gegründet hat und dass nun Juni ist.
- Yuki liest in dieser Szene „Tetsugakusha no Missitsu“ von Kiyoshi Kasai
Sie liest scheinbar eine andere Ausgabe oder die Animatoren waren bei der Farbgestaltung etwas kreativ. - Schon bevor Haruhi das Baseball-Turnier vorschlägt, trainieren und Itsuki und Kyon schon mit einem Baseball-„Brettspiel“:
- The Sportvariante der Schuluniformen unterscheiden sich je nach Schuljahr:
1. Jahr Oberschule ist blau und 2. Jahr Oberschule ist rot:
Im 3. Jahr trägt man scheinbar grün:
- Kyon’s Kommentar zu Haruhi’s Rumgefuchtel, als Mikuru dran ist, „Is she lowering the opposing pitcher’s magic points?“ ist eine Anspielung auf Dragon Quest und bestimmt auch auf andere jap. Rollenspiele.
- Itsuki’s Handy soll ein Nokia 6630 sein:
- Yuki liest während des Spiels „Oedipus Shoukougun“ von Kiyoshi Kasai:
Das ist übrigens der Nachfolger von dem Buch „Tetsugakusha no Missitsu“, welches Sie früher in der Folge liest. - Als Kyon gegen Ende des Spiels die Rolle des Pitchers übernimmt, klingt die Hintergrundmusik sehr stark nach dem ersten Opening des Baseball-Animes Touch:

Es gibt zahlreiche Anspielungen auf chronogisch gesehen vorherige Folgen, die aber erst später ausgestrahlt wurden:
- „Meanwhile I was involved…in an incident that’s like the world getting sudden calf cramps.“ bezieht sich auf den Beinahe-Weltuntergang in „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI“.
- Als Kyon Mikuru zur Hilfe eilt, weil diese weinend am Boden liegt , da Haruhi sie mal wieder ärgert, versucht Mikuru zunächst Kyon davon abzuhalten, ihr beizustehen, da Haruhi ja schnell eifersüchtig wird.
- Da Kyon ja scheinbar etwas für Pferdeschwänze bei Frauen übrig hat, sieht Haruhi doch davon ab, Mikuru als Cheerleader diese Frisur zu verpassen:
- Den Riesen, der kurz eingeblendet wird, kennt man schon aus „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya V“ (oder wird man dort wiedersehen…):
- Yuki und Kyon in Kampfposition stammen aus „The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi IV“ :
Diesmal allerdings aus einer anderen Perspektive, um nicht das Geheimnis von Ryoko zu spoilern (bei der TV-Ausstrahlung). Hier die gleiche Szene aus „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya IV“:
- Itsuki’s Frage „“When you went to that other world with Miss Suzumiya…how’d you return“ bezieht sich auch auf „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI“

- The episode is based on the short story in the third light novel with the same name „The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya“
- In the prologue a book with the title „Master of Space“ is visible in the rack. This might be „Master of Space and Time“ by Rudy Rucker, which contents fit to the powers that Yuki shows in the episode. Furthermore, there are also books called „Master of Space“ by Arthur C. Clarke and Donald S Rowland, but these seem to be more related to space travel.
- Kyon tells the audience that Haruhi founded the SOS Brigade in May and that the current story takes place in June.
- Yuki reads in this scene „Tetsugakusha no Missitsu“ by Kiyoshi Kasai

This is the sequel to the book „Tetsugakusha no Missitsu“, which she’s reading before in the episode, by the way. - When Kyon is shown as a pitcher near the end of the game, the background music sounds like the first opening of the baseball anime Touch:

There are several references to scenes of chronological former episodes, but in the TV broadcast they were shown later:
- „Meanwhile I was involved…in an incident that’s like the world getting sudden calf cramps.“ relates to the „almost – end of the world“ scenario of „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI“.
- When Kyon runs to Mikuru because she’s crying on the ground since Haruhi is teasing her again, Mikuru wants to stop Kyon from helping her. Mikuru learnt before that it’s no good idea to make Haruhi jealous.
- Haruhi learnt in her dream in „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya VI“ that Kyon likes ponytails, so that she backs off from styling Mikuru this way:
- The giant that is shown shortly is known from „The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya V“
- Yuki and Kyon in battle position are from „The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi IV“:
But this time the perspective is different so that you can’t recognize that Ryoko might have a secret. Here’s the original scene from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya IV“:
